BiS-Shyla vs Diona t3 set

October 18, 2011

Hello everyone, sooner or later you will accumulate enough marks of ascension to be able to purchase your first raid piece. The question you might be faced is to buy either the Shyla set (dps supposedly) or the Diona set (healing set). Here is a little guide to help you decide

Helm- 80 marks

  Shyla Diona
Armor 679 679
Wisdom 31 30
Intelligence 19 21
Endurance 15 15
Spell crit (sc) 18 0
Spell power 10 18
Focus 37 0
Total effective sp* 38 45.75

*Calculated as 0.75* wis + 0.25*int + sp

Shoulders- 80 marks

  Shyla Diona
Armor 594 594
Wisdom 32 32
Intelligence 19 21
Endurance 14 13
Spell crit (sc) 25 0
Spell power 12 17
Focus 0 0
Total effective sp* 40.75 46.25

Chest- 100 marks

  Shyla Diona
Armor 849 849
Wisdom 38 39
Intelligence 21 20
Endurance 16 16
Spell crit (sc) 22 0
Spell power 14 18
Focus 0 0
Total effective sp* 47.75 52.25

Gloves – 50 marks

  Shyla Diona
Armor 424 424
Wisdom 28 29
Intelligence 17 16
Endurance 12 11
Spell crit (sc) 17 14
Spell power 0 12
Focus 35 0
Total effective sp* 25.25 37.75

Legs – 100 marks

  Shyla Diona
Armor 764 767
Wisdom 36 36
Intelligence 22 24
Endurance 16 14
Spell crit (sc) 24 0
Spell power 15 20
Focus 0 0
Total effective sp* 47.5 53

Feet- 50 marks

  Shyla Diona
Armor 509 509
Wisdom 28 27
Intelligence 15 16
Endurance 12 12
Spell crit (sc) 22 0
Spell power 10 16
Focus 0 0
Total effective sp* 34.75 40.25

Total marks for entire set – 360 marks!

Total effective sp from Shyla: 234

Total effective sp from Diona: 275.25 (Gain of 41.25 sp from Shyla)

Total sc from Shyla: 128 (gain of 114 from Diona)

Total sc from Diona: 14

Total focus from Shyla: 72.

I think it is very obvious at this point to see that the Diona set has a bit more SP but at the cost of a huge portions of SC and focus. Given that healers need both SP and SC at about a ratio of 2 SC to 1 SP, this gain in SP is not worth the loss in SC (exceptions for 51 purifiers maybe).

Clerics are all about flexibility as well, so the fact that you don’t gain any focus at all from the Diona set makes flexibility a pain as focus is needed to DPS in dungeons and raids. So unless you want to heal and only heal, your better option is again the Shyla set.

Which piece to get first? This will depends on which piece is the biggest upgrade for you. I personally skipped the helm and the shoulders first as I can get almost equivalent armor from completion of the water saga quest.

Water saga rewards – Shoulders (Guardian names)

  Stormwrecked Tidehealer
Armor 518 518
Wisdom 25 29
Intelligence 20 9
Endurance 7 5
Spell crit (sc) 36 0
Spell power 0 21
Focus 0 0
Total effective sp* 23.75 45

Water saga rewards – Helm (Guardian names)

  DPS Heal
Armor 545 545
Wisdom 23 30
Intelligence 14 13
Endurance 0 7
Spell crit (sc) 0 26
Spell power 17 0
Focus 34 0
Total effective sp* 37.75 25.75

Btw, the itemization of the helm rewards does not make sense at all! The DPS helm has more spell power than the Heal helm!

  4. […] For T3 (Diona/Shyla) raid set, there is very little reason to go Diona set. You should get Shyla for all pieces except maybe gloves. See comparison here. […]

  5. You forgot to total the SC for each item should be SC + Int.

    • Yup, I will update it soon 🙂
