Duracell (solo build) Leveling Guide

November 1, 2011

Hello everyone, the Duracell build (14inq/21 justicar/31 shaman) is currently one of the most popular build for soloing clerics. The build at level 50 is well documented, especially in this famous thread here on the official forums.

However, the same cannot be said of a leveling build for those clerics not at level 50. The information is there, but it is scattered. The purpose of this guide is basically to consolidate all the leveling builds into one page for quick and easy access.

Level 10

Build: 10 Justicar/3 Inquisitor/0 shaman

Macros:

Single target

suppressmacrofailures
cast sanction heretic
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

Buffs:

Salvation – self heal through damage

Cavalier – generates convictions, required for doctrine abilities (heals) in the Justicar tree.

Mien of Honor – Increase heals through Salvation and reduce threat.

Vengeance of the Winter Storm – cause your attacks to deal addition damage.

Strategy:

Fairly straight forward at this level. You use Vex to pull mobs (this is a dot) and then spam your single target macro until the target is dead. You have no AoE abilities at this level so keep your pulls to single target. Use Doctrine of Bliss as your self heal.

Level 15

Build: 10 inquisitor/10 justicar/0 shaman

Macros: (no change from level 10)

Single target

suppressmacrofailures
cast sanction heretic
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

Buffs:

Armor of Devotion – increase your dps

Armor of Treachery – increase your survival.

Strategy:

Exact same as level 10, except now you have two buffs, choose accordingly as only one can be active at one time.

Level 20

Build: 14 inquisitor/10 justicar/ 2 shaman

Macros:

Single target

suppressmacrofailures
cast sanction heretic
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

AoE

suppressmacrofailures
cast soul drain

Buffs:

Courage of the Jaguar – Make you crit more by increasing your dex.

Strategy:

Pulling with Vex is a must as it heals you for the damage it does. You can now pull multiple mobs, then use your AoE macro and watch as the damage from Soul Drain essentially heal you back to full (Vex will heal you for while you try to get Soul Drain off as it is a long cast). Adjust your buffs accordingly for survival/more dps. Use Aggressive Renewal for mana regen.

Level 25

Build: 14 inquis/12 justicar/7 shaman

Macros:

Single target

suppressmacrofailures
cast fated blow
cast sanction heretic
cast lightning hammer
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

AoE

suppressmacrofailures
cast fated blow
cast soul drain

Buffs:

Mien of Leadership – Tanky kind of stuff, increase your endur/armor at loss of dps. Use if you need survival, otherwise use Mien of Honor.

Reparation – this will heal your group while you dps, make you an excellent offhealer in 5 man dungeons.

Strategy: Use Glacial Shield on pull and whenever it is up, otherwise it is pretty much same as before – Vex and then macros. You can now use Purpose to regain back mana in addition to aggressive renewal.

Level 30

Build: 14 inquis/12 justicar/14 shaman

Macros:

Single target

suppressmacrofailures
cast glory of the chosen
cast fated blow
cast sanction heretic
cast lightning hammer
cast massive blow
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

AoE

suppressmacrofailures
cast glory of the chosen
cast fated blow
cast soul drain

Strategy: Same as before, except now you have Glory of the Chosen as a heal added to your macro rotation and Ageless Ice as an addition mana regen. Pop it the same time as your Purpose for a fast regain of mana. You can even macro Glory of the Chosen to Vex for a while quick heal if you get critted on pulling.

Level 35

Build: 14 inquis/16 justicar/16 shaman

Macros:

Single target

suppressmacrofailures
cast jolt
cast glory of the chosen
cast fated blow
cast sanction heretic
cast lightning hammer
cast massive blow
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

AoE

suppressmacrofailures
cast jolt
cast glory of the chosen
cast fated blow
cast soul drain
cast avalanche strike

Buffs:

Righteous Mandate – put this on the tank to help heal him as you DPS if you are running 5 man dungeons.

Strategy: Jolt is likely to be your biggest hit. It does air damage you have two options from level 35 to level 40. You can either go into 4/5 in the air damage increaser in the shaman tree first for bigger single target DPS or get 18 points into the justicar tree first for even justice for more AoE dps that generates convictions at the same time. Either way, by the time you are level 40, you will be able to get both anyways.

Level 40

Build: 14 inquis/18 justicar/21 shaman

Macros:

Single target

suppressmacrofailures
cast jolt
cast glory of the chosen
cast fated blow
cast sanction heretic
cast strike of the maelstrom
cast lightning hammer
cast massive blow
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

AoE

suppressmacrofailures
cast jolt
cast glory of the chosen
cast fated blow
cast soul drain
cast strike of the maelstrom
cast even justice

Strategy: Not much new here except your AoE abilities got a bit more beefer with the addition of two new AoE abilities.

Level 45

Build: 14 inquis/18 justicar/27 shaman

Macros:

Single target

suppressmacrofailures
cast jolt
cast glory of the chosen
cast fated blow
cast sanction heretic
cast strike of the maelstrom
cast lightning hammer
cast massive blow
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

AoE

suppressmacrofailures
cast jolt
cast glory of the chosen
cast fated blow
cast soul drain
cast strike of the maelstrom
cast even justice

Strategy: You gain Battle Charge, use it when get snared on pull or when you want to jump to caster mobs quickly. From 45 to 50 I recommend getting the Rage of the North ability in the shaman tree first before finishing off the justicar tree.

Level 50

Build: 14 inquis/21 justicar/31 shaman

Macros:

Single target

suppressmacrofailures
cast jolt
cast glory of the chosen
cast fated blow
cast sanction heretic
cast strike of the maelstrom
cast lightning hammer
cast massive blow
cast sovereignty
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

AoE

suppressmacrofailures
cast rage of the north
cast jolt
cast glory of the chosen
cast fated blow
cast soul drain
cast strike of the maelstrom
cast even justice

Strategy: The author of Duracell summarized the strat quite well in his own words so I will just quote him.

Tag as many targets as possible with vex. Vex should be macroed with glory of the chosen to give you additional healing if you get crit as you are pulling. Use battle charge if possible when you get snared. Gather the mobs up and try to have them all face you. Mash AE macro until all dead; use ST macro if there’s a straggler or two. If you get really low on health use doctrine of bliss a few times. When low on mana, hit purpose/ageless ice immediately after a soul drain for quick mana recharge. If they are on CD use aggressive renewal. You should not ever have to drink with this build.

Alternative to the level by level healing guide! (sent/purifier route)

October 31, 2011

Hello everyone, I have received a couple of requests to make an alternative leveling guide that does not involved sent/warden so here it is one for sent/purifier. Here is the sent/warden leveling guide.

Level 15 – The Realm of the Fae

Build: 15 sentinel/5 purifier

We went deep into the sentinel tree to get Healing Grace, Healing Communion, a rez, and Touch the Light. In the purifier tree we have Healing Flame, a faster heal than Healing Grace.

Tank Healing: Use Healing Spray from 0 point warden ability for the HoT. Your single target heals at this point can be either Healing Grace or Healing Flame, depending on which one you like the best. One is a faster cast but heals for less. You might want to macro Touch the Light to one of them for O-shit moments. Use Healing Breath as often as possible to top people off.

AoE Healing: Healing Communion will be your AoE heal. Macro to Touch of the Light to this if you like for instant AoE heal to save your party!

#show Touch the Light
suppressmacrofailures
cast Touch the Light
cast Healing Communion

Level 17 – The Iron Tomb

Build: 16 sentinel/6 purifier

Pretty much same as level 15, except we have a new ability called Healing Invocation in the sentinel tree. It is a very big heal, only issue is that it has a 3 second cast time. So exchange its use with Healing Flame if you need. Use Healing Invocation for tank healing and use Healing Breath to top other party members off or to deal with spike damage on the tank.

You also have a cleanse ability from the sentinel tree, make a macro like this.

#show Cleansing Prayers
cast @mouseover Cleansing Prayers

Level 21 – Darkening Deeps

Build: 21 sentinel/6 purifier

You gained the new ability – Healer’s Covenant. This one is super useful tank saver so learn to use it well!. It will prevent 40% of incoming damage for 10 seconds. Use it when you see large spike in tank’s health to help mitigate the damage until you can top him/her off.

Your Healing Breath now heals 2 other party members at 60% effectiveness so it is good to top multiple people off.

Level 24 – The Deepstrike Mines

Build: 24 sentinel/7 purifier

Not much new here, you gain an AoE cleanse from the sentinel tree called Empowering Light.

Your Healing Invocation now has a HoT component to it as well. This should help mitigate some of the damage.

Level 28 – Foul Cascade

Build : 28 sentinel/9 purifier

Yay for 3/3 Serendipity! This ability will make your healing job much much easier and allow you pretty much use only Healing Invocation. You also get Divine Call, a save butt AoE heal with a cooldown of 60 seconds.

Tank Healing: Use Healing Invocation, Healer’s Covenant if need to help mitigate spike damage. Healing Breath to top people off. Cast Healing Spray on the tank to help proc Serendipity.

AoE Healing: Healing Communion with Serendipity proc or Divine call if it is up.

Level 33 – King’s Breach

Build: 32 sentinel/12 purifier

You get two nice abilities – Healer’s Haste and Life’s Return. Life’s Return is going to be your battle rez while Healer’s Haste is nice in a pinch if you need super fast heals. We are done with the sentinel tree and the rest of the levels are you putting your points into the purifier tree.

Level 38 – Runic Descent

Build: 32 sentinel/18 purifier

Two nice abilites – Ward of Ancestors and Searing Transfusion. Ward of Ancestors is used pre-pull as it generates almost no aggro and it acts as a nice bubble to mitigate the initial damages. Searing Infusion can be used when you see the tank is taking a lot of damage. It give a nice hp boost and small HoT.

If you are good, you can maintain Ward of Ancestors on 2-3 people, one on the tank and rest on DPS that tends to pull aggro.

Level 42- Latern Hook

Build: 32 sentinel/ 24 purifier (note the point distribution in the 32 sentinel is different so you will need to respec)

With 5/5 into Ancestral Flames, you are ready to transition into using Restorative Flame as your big heal rather than Healing Invocation. The reason for this is that Restorative Flame give you a nice bubble on the tank to mitigate the damage between two subsequent casts and this bubble scales nicely with spell power, which you will get a lot once you have decent gear.

With Restorative Flame being your big heal now, you can take the points away from HI and use it somewhere else. In this build I moved points to reduce mana costs and AoE heal effectiveness.

A nice ability you get its Latent Blaze. Cast it on your tank and yourself and this can save you both sometimes!

Another nice ability is Flashover. You will want to create a macro like this for save butt button on the tank!

#show Touch the Light
suppressmacrofailures
cast Touch the Light
cast Flashover
cast Restorative Flame

Tank healing: Ward of Ancestors before the pull. Maintain Latent Blaze all the time on the tank and yourself. Spam Restorative Flame on tank. Use Healer’s Covenant and/or save butt macro if need!

Level 48 – AP/CC

Build: 32 sentinel/32 purifier

Fiery Blessing is the new ability you get. It makes your heals crit. I macro it with Healer’s Haste as whenever I want fast heals I prolly want heals that crit too!

#show Healer’s haste
suppressmacrofailures
cast Healer’s Haste
cast Fiery Blessing

Level 50 – Final Build.

Build : 33 sentinel/33 purifier

Surging Flames is the final ability you get. Its nice for AoE heals in 5 mans and sometimes in raids. It will boost your hps in raids for sure.

So in summary, keep Latent Blaze and Surging Flames on the tank (Latent Blaze on yourself as well). You have 3 save butts – Healer’s Covenant, Macro 1 and Macro 2.

#show Touch the Light
suppressmacrofailures
cast Touch the Light
cast Flashover
cast Restorative Flame

#show Healer’s haste
suppressmacrofailures
cast Healer’s Haste
cast Fiery Blessing

Level by Level Healing Guide (for new players)

October 23, 2011

Hello everyone, there has being some request for a low level healing guide so I thought I would make a guide that take you all the way to level 50!

There are 10 normal dungeons in Rift, with the first one starting off at level 15. I will list a new build everytime you start a new dungeon. The idea is that if you can heal a new dungeon fine, there is no need for a new build until you hit the next dungeon.

I will be going with a sent/warden build with 0 point in purifier. I know some people like the sent/purifier build but I think that build is more effective at high gear levels (due to shield scaling w/ Spell Power) and does not provide as much AoE healing capability (mana intensive as well).

However, if you are interested in going the sent/purifier route, here is a guide for that as well.

Definitions of some commonly used words

Aggro – Mob (monster) has hate on you and want to kill you.

Tank – Meatshield who will absorb the damage from mobs and take aggro instead.

Spike – Sudden drop in health, usually in large chunks.

HoT- Heal Over Time

Rez – Make a dead party member alive again, this is castable outside combat only.

Brez- Battle Rez, Rez that can be casted while in combat, with a cooldown of typically 10 min

CD – Cooldown, its how long you have before you can use that ability again.

Pre-HoT or not

Pre-HoT generates a fair bit of aggro for you and if you tank isn’t quick to snap the aggro, you might get killed and wipe your group. Pre-HoT, however, does have the benefit of making it easier to heal as your tank won’t spike in HP so much with HoTs on him. You have to do this on a case by case basis, if your tank is really good at picking up aggro, then pre-HoT. Otherwise, don’t do it!

Level 15 – Realm of the Fae

Build: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=10jeG.x0o.xy

This is a 14 warden 6 sentinel build. The reason for going into 6 sentinel is to get Healing Grace, this will be your primary big heal until you get 5/5 into Deluge in the warden tree or Healing Invocation w/ 3/3 in Serendipity in the Sentiniel tree.

Tank Healing: Start off with instant cast Healing Spray and then spam Healing Grace to top the tank off if he/she is taking damage. Otherwise, cast Healing Current on the tank as an addition HoT to buffer against incoming damage. Use Healing Breath as need to top off tank or other group members. Refesh HoTs as needed.

AoE Healing: Use Healing Flood as an AoE HoT.

Self Healing: Put Shield of Ancestors on yourself if you think you will take damage. Use Healing Breath on yourself if you need.

Level 17 – Iron Tomb

Build: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=10jeG.x0o.xE00o

This is a 16 warden 6 sentinel build. You are gaining a new ability called Orbs of the Stream. This is a very useful spell as it can act as a buffer on your tank. It heals the tank instantly as soon he/she takes damage and does this for 3 times.

Tank Healing: Same as before, except you are putting Orbs of the Stream on the tank before pull. However, do watch out if the tank is pulling a group of mobs as this may generate aggro if the tank has no AoE aggro taunt.

AoE Healing & Self Healing: Same as before.

Level 21 – Darkening Deeps

Build: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=10jeG.x0o.xE00q

21 Warden/6 Sentinel build. You are gaining a new ability called Soothing Steam which is a very nice HoT that can stack 4 times. You now have 5/5 into Deluge and can use that as your big heal instead of Healing Grace. Deluge heals more the more HoTs you have stack on the tank.  Additionally, you are gaining a rez ability in the Warden tree.

Tank Healing: Orbs of Stream before pull, Healing Spray and followed by 4x Soothing Stream. Use Healing Breath as need to top tank top if tank is spiking. Otherwise cast Deluge.  The trick with Soothing Stream is that say if you have 4 stacks of it on someone, if you refresh it before it expires, you will regain all 4 stacks. Otherwise, if you let it expire, you will lose all stacks and have to start over. So keep these HoTs refreshed!

AoE Healing & Self Healing: Same as before.

Level 24 – Deepstrike Mines

Build: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=10jeG.e0h.xE00q

No new ability gain. Instead, you are getting some spell power and some critical heal bonus which will make your heals bigger.

Level 28 – Foul Cascade

Build: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=10jeG.E0x00o.xE00q

16 sentinel/21 warden build. New ability called Touch the Light. It make your next spell instant cast. You will want to make a macro like this.

#show Touch the Light
Suppressmacrofailures
cast Touch the Light
cast Tidal Surge
cast Healing Invocation

This will be your O-shit macro to press (you might need to press that macro a couple times for everything to go off. The cooldown its 45 seconds.

You also gain a new AoE heal ability called Healing Communion

Tanking Healing: Same rotation as before, you can use your O-shit macro on the tank as you see fit.

AoE Healing: Healing Flood initially. then use Healing Communion if the damage can not be healed by Healing Flood. Keep in mind this spell is very mana intensive if you spam it.

Level 33- King’s Breach

Build: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=10jeG.E0g00Rd.xE00q

23 sentinel/21 warden build. You gain an AoE cleanse ability called Empowering Light. Your Healing Breath also have a chance to heal your 2 other party members at 40% effectiveness. Also, more importantly, you gain a very useful cooldown called Healer’s Covenant. This ability is super super super useful if your tank is taking massive spike damage. It has a 2 min cooldown and last for only 10 secs so time it carefully. I typically use it on big pulls so it give me about 10  secs or so to get HoTs rolling on the tank.

Tank Healing: Same as before, use Healer’s Covenant as need.

Level 38 – Runic Descent

Build: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=10jeG.E0g00spc.xE0xo

29 sentinel/21 warden build. You have 3/3 into Serendipity so it is time to use Healing Invocation as your big heal. I took out all the points in Deulge as I won’t be using it anymore.  You also gain an ability called Divine Call which can be your O-shit AoE heal ability with a cooldown of 60 seconds.

Tank Healing:   You will keep the same HoT rotation, except you will replace Deluge with Healing Invocation for your big heals. Use Healer’s Covenant as need.

AoE healing: Healing Flood to start, use Divine Call for O-shit moments. Otherwise use Healing Communion (especially if timed with Serendipity proc)

Level 42 – Fall of Lantern Hook

Build:http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=10jeG.E0g00stco.xE0xokMo

31 sentinel/26 warden build. You gain a couple of niffy things. Healer’s Haste from sentinel for those situations where you know you will need a lot of big heals. Cascade from warden to feed you 15% mana every 2 minutes (make sure to have a macro for self casting #show Cascade cast @self Cascade). You also gain a cleanse over time called Curative waters which is very useful.

Level 48 – Abyssal Precipice/Charm’s Caldera

Build:

http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=10jeG.E0g00stco.xE0xotRoz

31 sentinel/32 warden build. You gain Healing Showers from the warden tree which is very nice for situations where you need big AoE heals. It has a cooldown of 2 min.

AoE healing: Healing Flood to start, use Divine Call for O-shit moments in conjunction with Healing Showers as need.  Otherwise use Healing Communion (especially if timed with Serendipity proc)

Level 50 builds

There are a couple of variations at the level 50. It all depends on what you need. These build are all sent/warden. If you are looking for other builds at level 50, check out my common cleric builds.

Build: Reduced Mana cost

Build: AoE heal oriented

Build: Tank healing oriented

That is it! Hope you find it useful! If you are wondering what to do at level 50, check out my Gearing up your first level 50 cleric!

All the best! xoxo
